Day 2: Arequipa and Beyond – wayne centrone
Words can’t express strongly enough how much it meant to have dinner with my dear colleagues last night. Our intention was to go to our neighborhood restaurant, but COVID rules mean most places close by 6 pm. Alas, we had to go to Jose Antonio – one of my favorites!
Now, after an early morning flight – I find myself typing this post in the volunteer house of Father Alex in Arequipa. Needless-to-say, its beautiful!
We are headed to the border with Bolivia and a week of driving in some of the most isolated areas of the southern Andes. We will be visiting small communities with the Bishop of Huancane – determining how to best develop social and healthcare programming for low resource areas. It will be AMAZING.
So, with that – I will next post from the top of the earth at over 14,000 feet high above Lake Titicaca. Thanks for joining me.
