Projects

HBI works to bring resources and expertise to understaffed and poorly developed clinics and care centers in developing nations. We offer consulting, strategic planning and leadership development. We work with in-country partners to identify responsible levels of growth and the appropriate application of technology to best serve the needs of the communities they serve.

Volunteer outreach adventures

HBI has partnered with Unión Bíblica del Perú and The Missionary Society of St. Paul for nearly 20 years building bridges of hope and care through direct medical, dental, and social outreach campaigns.  HBI outreach campaigns are driven by volunteers, many of whom return year after year, as each experience is unique and memorable.  HBI facilitates two outreach adventures annually. Community Assessments and Surveys

HBI has partnered with the University of North Carolina-Wilmington to develop community assessments and surveys in underserved areas around Peru. The results of the assessments and surveys are used by in-country partners to strengthen and measure the level of success of their programs and to identify needs. Through community based research and epidemiologic surveys, we work to develop meaningful data that can help to shape sustainable solutions to poverty and disparity.

Street Youth Project

HBI partners with an established advocacy organization to provide direct care and assistance to Peru’s abandon and neglected street youth. With an estimated population of well over a quarter million, Peru has an epidemic of homeless and abandoned youth. The mission of the street youth outreach project is to connect programs and projects to better serve the needs of abandon youth. We help to build coalitions and train health and human service professionals working with extremely impoverished and marginalized youth.

Community Enhancement Programs

HBI helps to facilitate a community feeding program, permanent health clinic, health promotion program, micro-economic development project, day care center, elderly care facility and home visit program in Arequipa, Peru. Working with established in-country partners, HBI helps to deliver comprehensive services to over 35,000 people.

Water Filtration Projects

Around the world, lack of access to potable water creates untold levels of human suffering. The HBI Water Filtration Project helps to purchase water filtration equipment and supplies for communities of need, placing units in sustainable programs. To date, HBI has helped to establish and implement four water filtration projects in Peru and Nicaragua.

Providers for the Underserved Network

HBI is working in collaboration with Peruvian College of Medicine and a group of young health professionals to develop a special interest group dedicated to working with the poor and underserved. The goal of the project is to generate greater solidarity and mutual interest in creating careers focused on serving the poor and underserved.
